St Giles Church, Cheadle

The church of St Giles in Cheadle was designed by the famous architect A W N Pugin. It was begun in 1840 and took six years to complete. Virtually every part of the church is decorated in some way, from the tiled floor to the elaborately painted walls and gilded ceiling. The striking red and gold west doors are depicted on each page of this website.

It is, of course, from the architect's name that Pugin Singers derives its own name. Our usual practice venue is in St Giles Catholic Primary School which lies in the shadow of the church.

The two recordings currently on our samples page were recorded in St Giles Church.
